After the creation of the "Information to the citizen” section, available on this website, IGS confirms its intention to maintain transparent relations with the local community by installing an information point to serve the public. It will provide up-to-date news on the activities and various phases of the construction and will also serve as a free wi-fi hotspot.
The project will be created in March and will require no more than 30 days on an area of 24 km2. The relief will help develop high-definition mapping and provide further knowledge of the underground geological framework.
The economic development opportunities at the local level, related to the realisation of the gas storage facility under construction, were the subject of a meeting sponsored by the Merchants and Artisans Association of the Province of Lodi with Ital Gas Storage and Saipem.
The test activities continue regularly in order to ensure the security of the wells at regime. Maximum attention will be dedicated to the methods used in order to minimise the impact on the site and its surroundings, always in full compliance with safety regulations.
Ital Gas Storage has launched a number of improvements to the storage site currently under construction in order to further reduce gaseous and noise emissions. All activities are subject to continuous monitoring to protect the safety and health of citizens. For the pipeline, cutting-edge technology will be used, allowing for underground excavations, thus reducing the impact on local traffic.
Ital Gas Storage demonstrates its availability and transparency towards citizens, answering numerous questions regarding the safety of the storage and entrusting two independent experts to clarify the technical aspects of the project.
The monitoring network of the gas storage site consists of 9 new stations located in different municipalities in the Cornegliano Laudense area, all equipped with technologically advanced seismological instrumentation and continuous data transmission equipment.
The storage, which plays a key role in the National Energy Strategy outlined by the Ministry of Economic Development, will contribute to the stability and security of the Italian energy system, which is heavily dependent on imports, especially during the peak demand periods in the winter.
